Nightlife in Sedona

Sedona is not a party city! It’s a vacation destination that bustles with activity during the day and is quieter at night. You won’t find night clubs or rowdy late night venues but instead upscale bars and casual breweries, award-winning restaurants with scenic outdoor patios, cozy lounges with indoor fireplaces and a couple of late night spots and live music venues that mostly shut by midnight.

From sunset hikes to late night vibes, we’ve got the scoop on how to enjoy a night out in Sedona!

Night Hikes: Pop on your night goggles and discover the beauty of a Sedona sunset and the star-studded skies on a guided night hike in Sedona’s Red Rock Country. Sedona is a world-famous dark sky community boasting some of the most spectacular stargazing you’ll ever experience! Guided night hikes take you to some of Sedona’s top trails and off-the beaten path secret spots for incredible wildlife viewing, stargazing beyond your wildest dreams and a Sedona hiking experience like no other!

Ghost Tours: Traveling to Sedona with kids? Discover the spooky side of Arizona on a fun ghost tour of the notorious haunted town of Jerome. Armed with a flashlight, you’ll explore the historic museums and buildings, the Old Miners Cemetery and the famous Jerome Grand Hotel, the grand dame of the Verde Valley. No kids under 7 years of age!

Western Dinner Theater: Experience an authentic wild west country experience at the Blazin’ M Ranch in Cottonwood. Explore the western style Frontier Town and old west boardwalk, enjoy family-friendly entertainment, sip cold brew in the saloon then settle in for an evening of fun! The Chuckwagon Dinner and Show serves up scrumptious cowboy cuisine and an hour of entertainment by the Blazin’ M Ramblers.

Sunset at Airport Mesa Overlook: The Airport Mesa Overlook boasts 360-degree views over Sedona and is by far the best place to watch the sunset in Sedona but bear in mind it can get crowded! Pack a picnic and watch the sun go down from the Airport Loop Trail or book a table on the outdoor patio at Mesa Grill for Sedona’s finest alfresco dining with a view.

Sunset Horse Ride: Ride off into the sunset at the M Diamond Ranch, a historic working cattle ranch located just outside Sedona. The Ranch Rendezvous is a one hour trail ride followed by a horse-drawn wagon ride to the outdoor Sedona lookout, for a cowboy cookout and live country tunes under the stars.

Stargazing Tour: Sedona is a certified dark sky community with minimal light pollution and spectacular star studded skies. Check the weather forecast for clear skies (July and August are monsoon season with more cloud cover) and head out to Sedona’s top spots for stargazing or book an Evening Sky Tour for a cosmic journey of the galaxies, stars and planets that adorn the Sedona skies.

Wine Bars & Breweries: If you’re looking for somewhere to sip Verde Valley wines or a cold local brew, Sedona’s wine bars and breweries will not disappoint! Vino Di Sedona boasts a selection of over 900 local and international wines with happy hour, live music and wine tastings daily.

If you’re a beer lover, the Sedona Beer Company has a constantly rotating tap list and wrap around views from the patio and the Oak Creek Brewery has two locations to sample Sedona’s finest craft beer. Gather round the firepits with a Seven Dwarves sampler and live music in the beer garden at Oak Creek Brewery in West Sedona or sip world-class microbrews and soak up the Sedona views from the outdoor patio at the Oak Creek Brewery & Grill in the historic Tlaquepaque Village. For the best craft beer in Arizona, take a scenic drive (with a designated driver) on Hwy 89A through Oak Creek to Flagstaff, pick up a passport and explore the Flagstaff Brewing Trail.

Late Night Vibes: Sedona’s wine bars and breweries generally close by 10pm, but the night need not end there. If you’re looking for late night vibes in Sedona, they’re a couple of local hotspots that stay open a little later. Mooney’s Irish Pub is an unpretentious local bar with a great selection of over 300 beers and beverages to choose from, live local music and karaoke, a food truck, and they even offer a donation based shuttle home! Sip creative craft cocktails paired with hearty cuisine at the Vault Uptown or enjoy high desert cuisine, cactus fries and classic cowboy culture at the Cowboy Club, a famous Sedona establishment that has featured in hundreds of magazines and movies. For more late night entertainment in Sedona, the nearby Cliff Castle Casino Hotel in Camp Verde has live music events and a nightclub or travel north to Twin Arrows Navajo Casino Resort in Flagstaff for more gaming and dining.

Live Music & Events: The most popular music venue in Sedona is the Sound Bites Grill in Uptown (be sure to check out the gallery of signed guitars!). Most of the wine bars, breweries and many of the restaurants offer live music throughout the week. Listen to laid back jazz at Bar89, Latin-inspired vibes at Mariposa or live music on the outdoor patio at Olde Sedona Bar & Grill. For karaoke and live music in town head to Mooney’s or if you’re staying in the Village of Oak Creek, the Full Moon Saloon has pool tables, karaoke, DJs and loads of fun!
